Programs of Study
The Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School is a fully accredited, four-year institution located on an 80-acre campus in Bridgewater, NJ. Serving all of Somerset County, the school accepts students on a full-time and shared-time basis in over 20 programs that combine training in occupational and academic skills.

Full-time students attend the high school for the entire day and earn a high school diploma, plus a vocational certificate in the specific shop they attend. Shared-time students earn a certificate in their shop program and attend their hometown district for academic courses. At SCVTHS students prepare for a professional career, post-secondary study at colleges, technical institutes or training schools.

The school also offers an award-winning Gifted and Talented Performing Arts program, with emphasis in dance, theater arts and musical theater, and provides the community with many cultural events. A new 14,000-square-foot addition will expand the performing arts facility to include two classrooms/performing arts areas. An outdoor amphi-theater will also be built and provide seating for 300 people. A high-tech classroom seminar space will accommodate an additional 150 people.

Regardless of the path a student selects, the faculty and staff are ready to provide guidance and support to ensure the student's success for future employment. Emphasis is on quality education with a balance of academic studies and hands-on skill development for entry level employment and career advancement.

Social activities and participation in sports contribute to the well-rounded student. If a sport is not available at our school the student may participate at the home district. A variety of activities, from club sponsored events to plays and dance concerts are scheduled throughout the year. Community service is an important component of our school. Students participate in a number of fundraising projects that benefit County organizations such as the American Cancer Society, the Food Bank and the American Heart Association.

SCVTHS can provide a solid foundation for graduates, whether they plan to continue their education or go right into the workforce. The school is in the forefront of technology and provides a well-equipped computer laboratory, a distance learning interactive television studio, and advanced placement technology courses at our adjoining Technology Institute

94% of our graduates find employment, continue their education at colleges and technical schools, or enter the military. Graduates earn a New Jersey High School Diploma. There is no tuition for high school students who reside in Somerset County.

Career counseling and job placement are an integral part of our vocational and technical program. We prepare students for the world of work or continuing education.
