Mission & Philosophy

Our mission is to provide an educational program of excellence in which all students achieve the New Jersey Student Learning Standards at all grade levels for the purpose of developing responsible graduates who are emotionally, academically, technically and vocationally competent and prepared for the future. SCVTS is proud of its ability to develop high quality Career and Technical Educational programs for a diverse group of students in Somerset and other neighboring counties. 

We are committed to excellence and equity through our admission policies and broad access and inclusion of diverse populations through our muti-faceted recruiting efforts.

Hours of Operation:

  • Main Office: 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM
  • School Day: 7:45 AM to 2:15 PM
  • Superintendent & Business Office: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

News & Announcements

NexGen STEM, a non-profit organization founded by SCVTHS students Jashith Gorrepati of Green Brook and Rohan Patel of Hillsborough, recently presented a fire safety and prevention expo to Green Brook Middle School students. The goal of the organization is to provide students locally and around the world, regardless of socioeconomic status, with hands-on educational materials that make  science, technology, education, and math accessible.

A group of students at Somerset County Vocational and Technical High School (SCVTHS) are using their skills and their love of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to make a difference locally and beyond.

Students Jashith Gorrepati of Green Brook and Rohan Patel of Hillsborough co-founded the non-profit organization NexGen STEM in an effort to bring educational opportunities to students around the world, regardless of their socioeconomic background. Their goal is to deliver programs and educational materials that will not only inspire students to want to learn more about STEM, but will also develop skills that enable them to assess and develop solutions to real-world issues that affect their communities.

Somerset County Vocational and Technical High School (SCVTHS) was well represented at the New Jersey Regional Science Olympiad competition held at NJIT on January 8th. Students enrolled in the Health Occupations, Mechatronics, Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing (MEAM), and the Academy for Health and Medical Sciences competed in events that required them to show off their problem solving, critical thinking, and technology skills.

The SCVTHS team was led by captains and Hillsborough residents Kushi Rao, Srishti Kishore, Rian Patel and Chaitanyaa Vyas. In addition to advising and motivating their teammates, the captains also registered for competitions, communicated with event organizers, assigned teams, and organized fundraisers.

Jonathan Klimuc of Bound Brook, the January 2025 Student of the Month at Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School.

Jonathan Klimuc of Bound Brook, a Freshman in the Electrical Construction program at Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School (SCVTHS), has been selected as Student of the Month for January 2025. Jonathan is the son of Thomas and Lindsey Klimuc of Bound Brook.

Several teachers nominated Jonathan for this honor. English instructor Lauren Heuer praised him for “bringing his knowledge and concepts from other classes into English class” as well as saying that “his thoughtfulness and helpfulness makes him a great peer and friend to those in class.” Electrical Construction instructor Mike McClain added that Jonathan’s behavior, attitude, and how he treats others makes him an exemplary person. These sentiments were echoed by Denise Gotti, Jonathan's Biology instructor, who also noted that he is a truly sincere person who “takes an interest in the lives and well-being of others” as well as having “an easy-going nature that is enjoyable to be around.”
