    Here at MEAM, we have built our reputation as a leading pre-engineering and advanced manufacturing high school program in our region.  This reputation is founded on our ability to teach you the skills that directly prepare you for college while providing you with hands-on experiences that actually prepare you for industry.

    A collaboration between Somerset County Vocational School (SCVTHS) and Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) in Branchburg; MEAM is a 4 year high school program of study where students learn both at SCVTHS's Robotics and Engineering Lab as well as RVCC's Advanced Manufacturing Lab.

    Earn up to 14 college credits (at RVCC and NJIT)

    Earn up to 12 industry valued credentials

    Earn a Bachelor's Degree at a Fraction of the Cost

    With articulation agreements with RVCC and many universities throughout the country, MEAM provides a pathway for high school students to earn their bachelor's degree for a fraction of the cost of traditional pathways. 

    The MEAM - Bachelor's Degree Pathway: approx total cost $38k to $50k (plus fees)**

    1. MEAM (4 years) - earn up to 14 college credits in high school. COST: FREE
    2. RVCC (2 years) - approx $12k ($6k per year plus fees) **or earn FREE TUITION through NJ STARS program 
    3. NJIT (2 years) - approx $38k ($19k per year plus room, board and fees)

    Q: Do these college credits align with a specific college degree?
    A: YES!  MEAM graduates can apply their college credits directly to an Associate Degree at RVCC and then transfer to a four-year Engineering program such as NJIT to complete their bachelor's.

    Step 1: MEAM: Successfully complete MEAM and earn up to 14 college college credits:

    Step 2: RVCC EMET: Apply to RVCC's Mechanical Engineering Technology Associates Degree Program.  The following MEAM college credits apply directly to this degree: EMET 105, EMET 152, EMET 254.

    Step 3: NJIT MET: Apply to NJIT’s Mechanical Engineering Technology Bachelor's Degree Program (you will enter the program as a junior).  The following MEAM college credits apply directly as technical electives: EMET 151, EMET 253.

    Q: Can these college credits be transferred to other colleges and universities?
    A: YES!  With articulation agreements with universities throughout the country, transferring has never been easier.  For information, please visit RVCC's College Transfers Page.  For institutions not listed on RVCC’s page, you must inquire directly with the institution in question.

  • Congressman Lance's Visit

    On Thursday, February 23, 2017, Congressman Leonard Lance visited our MEAM shop.  Our students treated Mr. Lance to a real world production operation which included raw material handling and processing, primary machining on CNC mill & lathe, finishing operations on manual mill, surface grinder and belt sander and finally, quality control.  In addition, students showed off their emerging skills in robotics development and programing and ended the day by creating a 3D model of Mr. Lance.


  • Kayleen McCabe's Visit

    During the first week of February, Kayleen McCabe of the DIY Network's Rescue Renovation visited our MEAM shop ... and LOVED IT!

  • MEAMers 3D Printing

    Face Shields

    During the spring of 2020, MEAM students and staff put their engineering and manufacturing skills to work for the community.  Students David Bilia, Will Mente, Ben Myshka and Ryan DelSordo as well as Mr. D and Janet Cantore-Watson worked to 3D print and deliver over 3000 face shields to local organizations in need.  Donation sites include Somerset County Office of Emergency Management, Morristown Memorial Hospital, Rutgers University, South Plainfield EMS / Rescue Squad, Sacred Heart Church in South Plainfield and the Diocese of Metuchen.
