Brian Coletta, a senior in the Health Occupations Program, has been selected as Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School’s (SCVTHS) Student of the Month for December 2019. Brian is the son of Joe and Jean Coletta of Green Brook.
SCVTHS English Instructor and Rotary Interact Advisor Rachel Miller nominated Brian for the Student of the Month award because, “Brian is a thoughtful and responsible young man who values community service. As our Interact Club President, Brian dedicates much of his time to fundraising efforts at school, as well as community service endeavors off campus. For example, he represented our Interact Club at the People Care Center on a Sunday to serve breakfast. In class, Brian is a hard worker. He always asks for help and clarification when needed, positively contributes to class discussions, and always strives to do his best. These qualities help him succeed in English 12.”
At SCVTHS, Brian is President of the Rotary Interact Club, senior editor of The Jaguar Times, a lead Student Ambassador and vice president of the National Technical Honor Society. Additionally, Brian is a two-time Stellar Student, a Principal Honor Roll student, as well as a member of the National Honor Society, Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) and Yearbook clubs. In his community, Brian is a cadet at the Warren Township Rescue Squad, an Eagle Scout and a member of the Sons of the American Legion.
Outside of school, Brian works at Acme Markets in Warren and has been a summer instructor at the Bashore Scout Reservation. In his free time, Brian enjoys hiking, biking, volunteering with the elderly and going out with his friends.
Brian plans to commit to Elizabethtown College to take part in their combined six-year Bachelor of Science in Health Science and Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) Program.
