Students in the Cosmetology Program learn the fundamental skills to gain employment in the field of cosmetology, including hair care, makeup, barbering and nail care. Students also learn the skills related to seeking and maintaining employment as well as small business operations. Course work is both hands-onand academic. Students will have the opportunity to obtain additional certificates such as shop safety and extensions. During the course of the 2nd year, once a student has earned 600 hours, the student will apply for a  permit which will allow the student to work in a salon. During the course of the 4th year, a student who has obtained 1,000 hours will have the opportunity to take the State Cosmetology Board Exam. Many students choose Cosmetology as a career and a means to financial stability while attending college or university.
