MEL McENROE

Mel McEnroe

Mel McEnroe, a Senior in the Health Occupations program, has been selected as Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School’s (SCVTHS) Student of the Month for November 2023.  Mel is the daughter of Tim McEnroe of Warren.

Social Studies Instructor Meghan Welch nominated Mel for this honor, saying that as one of the captains of the soccer team she "is a natural leader and her teammates look to her for support and advice. Despite her injuries this season, she has kept a smile on her face and has continued her unwavering support of the team." Ms. Welch also cited Mel’s “positive attitude, genuine kindness, strong leadership skills, and friendly persona” as further reasons why she deserved to be Student of the Month.

At SCVTHS, Mel is a member of the Varsity Soccer, Basketball, and Softball teams, and was honored as the 2023 Defensive Player of the Year for both soccer and softball. In 2023 she was the recipient of the Varsity Basketball Coaches Award, was named a Greater Middlesex Conference Soccer All Star, and earned the conference Sportsmanship Award. Mel is the Vice President of Student Council, is a Student Ambassador, and is a member of the National Technical Honor Society, the SCVTHS Weightroom Club, and HOSA.

Mel fills her “free time” working at Gabriel’s Fountain, spending time with friends and family, baking, and enjoying the outdoors. She plans to earn her Bachelor’s degree in nursing, and looks forward to a career as either a trauma or psychiatric nurse.
