Grounds Maintenance Position
Players Development Academy is seeking to hire a Grounds Maintenance team member for our soccer academy. This position will be responsible for general grounds maintenance for the Soccer Academy that includes 40 acres of athletic fields and surrounding woodland areas. This is a great opportunity for someone with a background in grounds maintenance. This position will report directly to the Sports Facility Manager.

Primary responsibilities: (The following list of duties & responsibilities are not intended to be complete or all-inclusive and does not preclude management from assigning other or related functions.)

  •  Maintain and care for athletic fields
  • Assist with grounds maintenance to include mowing, weed eating, blowing, hand watering.
  • Assist in the painting of lines on soccer fields.
  • Prepare seeding or transplanting fields by cultivating soil and adding fertilizer or chemicals.
  • Plant and prune shrubs;
  • Inspect flowers, shrubs and trees for evidence of insects, fungi and other pests and use appropriate means to correct problems; Assist with duties to ensure the cleanliness and safety of the academy grounds, to include litter and trash removal on evenings and weekends when required.
  • Adjust and repair equipment such as mowers, spreaders, tractors, irrigation systems etc.
  • Operate equipment and vehicles as needed or required safely.
  • Assist with the operations of multiple weekend soccer tournaments taking place throughout the season.

Qualifications:
● Must possess a minimum of a high school diploma.
● Experience in a grounds maintenance or golf course role.
● Must be able to work holidays, weekends and nights as needed.
● Certification as a state pesticide applicator and Fertilizer applicator within one year of employment.
● Must possess a valid driver’s license in good standing, and pass a criminal background investigation.
● Ability to multitask, work independently and as part of a team.
● Ability to lift and carry 60 lbs. bags of materials
● Must have excellent customer service skills
● Mechanical skills or background a plus

Academy Setting:
Situated on 40+ acres in Somerset, NJ, PDA is a year-round "soccer-only" training facility with 20 natural grass, native soil (sandy loam) surfaces, 4 Musco-lighted fields, and 3 all-weather Field Turf synthetic fields. Players Development Academy provides year-round soccer training that develops players to their greatest potential, focusing on top-quality instruction and exposure to the highest levels of competition. The Academy has boys team and girls’ team in each of the age groups including Under-9 through Under-19. Teams compete in premier leagues throughout the northeast and mid-Atlantic states, and will participate in highly competitive tournaments nationwide. The goal is to offer players optimal opportunities to gain the recognition that will enable them to achieve continued success as athletes on the country's top collegiate teams, United States national teams, and/or professional soccer teams.
