Boys Basketball Roundup for Tuesday, Feb. 14
Somerset Tech 65, Roselle Park 63 (OT): Junior Elijah Bowers scored a game-high 27 points for Somerset Tech (11-10), including his 1,000th career point. Bowers needed 24 points entering the game, and now has 1,003 points. He's the fifth player for Somerset Tech to reach the milestone.
"I didn't even know it happened, coach stopped the game and they made an announcement, it didn't feel real for a second," Bowers said. "I was very proud, at first I never though about it, I didn't come into high school thinking about but I started to get better and I made a huge jump from freshman to sophomore year and it just shows that I worked hard and it's starting to pay off. It feels great (to do it as a junior) because another year and I could lead all time."
Bowers also had five rebounds, four assists and three steals. Yakim Jean-Philippe finished with 14 points, nine rebounds and nine blocks for Somerset Tech.ELI 1000.docx 254.10 KB (Last Modified on February 21, 2017)
