Carpentry Students Build Playhouse for Local Kids
Students enrolled in the Carpentry program at Somerset County Vocational and Technical High School (SCVTHS) recently delivered a children’s playhouse to Agape House.
The structure was designed and built by SCVTHS students. The project enabled them to put into practice skills they have learned in the classroom that apply to homebuilding – like cutting, framing and roofing – but on a smaller scale. Carpentry students from all grade levels worked on the project over the past two school years, and, after some delays due to weather, were recently able to deliver it.
SCVTHS Carpentry students recently delivered a playhouse they designed and built to Agape House for use by children who are staying there. Standing in front of the structure are (l-r) Carpentry Instructor Dan LaRue, students Alex Arguello of Hillsborough, Logan Russomanno of Bound Brook and Nicholas DeSan of Bound Brook, and SCVTHS Supervisor of Career and Technical Education Rob Carrig.
