A program that develops ALL LEVELS of dance training.

The Gifted and Talented Honors Dance Program at SCVTHS celebrates more than 35 years of Dance instruction, offering students professional preparation for careers in the field of Dance. While learning and refining technical skills, young artists are encouraged to discover their creative potential.

Students from sending schools in twenty-one communities participate in our Dance Program, and receive up to 17.5 high school honors credits annually.

(12.5 for Dance 3.75 for Physical Education and 1.25 for Health)

The Gifted and Talented Honors Dance Program at Somerset County Vocational & Technical Schools accepts students from Bedminster Township, Bernards Township, Bernardsville, Bound Brook, Branchburg Township, Bridgewater Township, Far Hills, Franklin Township, Green Brook Township, Hillsborough Township, Manville, Millstone, Montgomery Township, North Plainfield, Peapack-Gladstone, Raritan, Rocky Hill, Somerville, South Bound Brook, Warren Township and Watchung.

The program also accepts students from surrounding counties that may not have a vocational dance program in their area - such as Hunterdon County.

After two years of training, dancers receive a CTE Certificate verifying their dance training in Technique, Choreography, Production, Teaching Methods and Beginner Pilates Mat.

All students are required to audition for acceptance into the program. The program encourages growth in individuality and creativity, which assists students in making future dance education career choices. Students wishing to continue their education in Dance are offered the opportunity to visit local colleges, attend productions, as well as meet with speakers, alumni, and guest artists. Scholarship opportunities, auditions, workshops, intensives, and NJ & NY performances are posted daily to keep students aware of the great number of resources that are available in this dynamic field.

Just a reminder to anyone who attends our performances, no one is granted the right to take photos or videotape our performances.
