    Monday, March 5th 6:00pm

      Applications MUST be completed before attending audition

     Candidates should call Sheila Buttermore at 908-526-8900 ext. 7277  to make an appointment for an audition.


    During a 30 minute barre, modern dance phrase and jazz dance phrase, dancers will be evaluated on their flexibility, technique and musicality. In addition, they will be given an opportunity to present a solo. (not to exceed 2 minutes)  Recording playback equipment will be available.

    Appointments required.


    Women: Leotards, footless tights, ballet shoes / jazz shoes.  

    Men: Jazz pants, t-shirt, ballet shoes / jazz shoes.  

    Hair must be worn off the face and neck.

    Bring warm-up clothes, as there will be a waiting time between solos / interviews.

    The Dance Program

    The Gifted and Talented Dance Programs at SCVTHS celebrates more than 20 years of Dance instruction, offering students professional preparation for careers in the field of Dance. While learning and refining technical skills, young artists are encouraged to discover their creative potential.

    Students from sending schools in twenty-one communities participate in our
    Dance Program, receive up to 16 high school honors credits annually.

    (12.25 for Dance, 3.75 for Physical Education and 1.25 for Health)  

    Beginning in 2017-2018, seniors who have attended the program for two or more years graduate with a Pilates Mat Certification.

    The Dance Program is free of charge to all Somerset County students. All students are required to audition for acceptance into the program. The program encourage growth in individuality and creativity, which assists the students in making future dance education career choices. Students wishing to continue their education in Dance are offered the opportunity to visit local colleges, attend productions, as well as meet with speakers, alumni and guest artists. Scholarship opportunities, auditions, workshops, intensives and NJ & NY performances are posted daily to keep students aware of the great number of resources that are available in this dynamic field. 

    Just a reminder to anyone who attends our performances that absolutely no one is granted the right to take photos or to video tape our performances.
