ELIZABETH DIETRICH SELECTED STUDENT OF THE MONTH FOR APRIL

sotm April 2017

Elizabeth Dietrich, a junior in the Agricultural Science Program, has been selected as Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School’s Student of the Month for April 2017. Elizabeth is the daughter of Thomas and Caroline Dietrich of Green Brook.

Agricultural Science Instructor Mr. Fargo nominated Elizabeth for the Student of the Month Award because she “is a warm, friendly, and positive addition to the classroom. She is always striving to do the right thing, assisting peers and teachers when she sees that anyone is in need. She simply goes above and beyond the call of duty. She leads the class academically and shares deep and expressive thoughts in concluding lessons. Elizabeth is our Somerset FFA Chapter Vice President and leads our Plan of Activities Committee. She faithfully bakes brownies for chapter meetings so all can have treat during the meeting. She has earned her FFA Greenhand Degree, and is currently completing an application for the FFA Chapter Degree. She is doing several Agricultural Science projects, inside and outside of school. For these projects she documents her activities, hours and finances. She has currently earned two national blue ribbon badges for keeping such great records. Elizabeth has recorded and logged over 28 hours of Community service since September 2015. She is a National Honor Society member, a Robotics and Engineering member, a yearbook club member, and has assisted in decorating the Linkages Center. What makes Elizabeth stand out is how loved she is by  academic teachers in our school. I give Elizabeth my highest recommendation for Student of the Month.”

Science Instructor Mrs. Mehta also nominated Elizabeth for the award saying, “She is such a pleasure. She is very respectful and always goes above and beyond on her assignments. An ideal student.”

Elizabeth’s other awards and acknowledgments, which Mr. Fargo did not mention, include being on the Principal’s Honor Roll, being a CTE Stellar Student, being recognized for volunteering at the Somerset Environmental Education Center, and also being previously chosen as Student of the Month.

Outside of SCVTHS, Elizabeth enjoys volunteering, drawing, playing with her cat, and hanging out with her friends. After graduating from SCVTHS, Elizabeth plans on furthering her education in the Agricultural Science field at a college close to home.
