The Linkages Department (funded by the New Jersey Department of Children and Families) at Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School (SCVTHS) held a suicide awareness event during all lunch periods on September 19th. At the event, Linkages staff provided literature, hotline information, as well as a quiz for students to test their knowledge. Additionally, students who completed the quiz received a stress ball as an incentive. The information table was created in an effort to encourage students to talk and inform students of all the available services.

Director of School Based Programs Elaine Howe said, “In Linkages, we have resources available to help students that may be in crisis or may simply need to talk to someone. In addition to providing on-site mental health services, we can refer students out for further assistance, if needed.”
