Students and advisors from Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School’s (SCVTHS) FFA, Connect4Cancer, Teen Think Tank Project, National Honor Society, and National Technical Honor Society Clubs recently participated in a campus cleanup. As a community service project, 20 students from the Clubs worked on different parts of the campus and collected trash.

Agricultural Science Instructor Mr. Erik Fargo stated, “This was our largest turnout we've had in four years of organizing this event. We were able to cover & clean more campus property than in years past. We greatly appreciate the support and efforts of the other Clubs involved and their leaders, Mrs. Welch, Mr. Jefopoulos, and Mrs. Santiago. This will give our participating students community service hours they can use toward earning their Honorary FFA Chapter and State degrees.”

SCVTHS senior and Somerset FFA Chapter President Parthavi Patel of South Bound Brook added, “It was great to see so many people show up in an effort to keep our campus clean and  promote overall environmental health and awareness. We had one of our most successful clean-ups with ten bags of trash collected."

SCVTHS Social Studies Teacher and Advisor for the Connect4Cancer and Teen Think Tank Project Clubs Ms. Meghan Welch stated, "It was so great to see students come together from a variety of clubs and organizations to help clean up our campus. Since we had so many volunteers, we were able to cover more of our school campus than we ever have before. Many thanks to Mr. Fargo for coordinating the event and making this our most successful clean-up yet!"
