Dominik Lojek, the April 2023 Student of the Month at Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School.

Dominik Lojek, a freshman in the Mechatronics, Engineering, and Advanced Manufacturing (MEAM) Program, has been selected as Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School’s Student of the Month for April 2023. Dominik is the son of Teresa Bijak of Hillsborough.

SCVTHS Special Education Instructor Kristen McNerney nominated Dominik for the Student of the Month Award stating, “Dominik is a great addition to English 9. He is a great contributor to class discussions and is always upbeat and friendly. Dominik is a respectful and responsible young man who consistently puts forth his best effort to succeed academically.”

SCVTHS English Instructor Rachel Miller added, “He is such a respectful student to both Ms. McNerney and myself.  He always participates in classes, completes his work on time, and goes above and beyond in English class. We can tell that Dominik cares about his school and the community.”

Finally, Dominik’s MEAM Instructor Dan Dalfonzo stated, “Dominik is a super focused very reliable young man. He always finishes his work quickly and with quality in mind.  Without being asked he either helps his classmates or takes the lesson in another direction for greater depth. Most recently he's been working autonomously on CAD to prepare for SkillsUSA. He's taken what he's learned from his CAD lessons to design mountain bike parts to increase his design skills.”

At SCVTHS, Dominik is an honor roll student. Outside of school, Dominik is a member of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA) and enjoys playing outside and reading in his free time. After high school, Dominik plans to become a mechanical engineer.
