SCVTHS STUDENTS SUCCESSFULLY COMPETE IN SCIENCE OLYMPIAD EVENTS

Earlier this school year, students from the Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School (SCVTHS) Academy for Health and Medical Sciences Science Olympiad Team attended and competed at the 2023 NJIT Regionals Division C Competition. As a result, six SCVTHS students placed in their respective competitions.

The Team placed in the following events:

1st Place
Write it Do it - Kimia Shahriyar of Bridgewater & Janvi Patel of Hillsborough

2nd Place
Anatomy and Physiology - Keshav Gurushankar of Bridgewater & Chaitanyaa Vyas of Hillsborough

4th Place
Fermi Questions - James Saba of Somerset & Alex Zheng of Bridgewater

Science Olympiad is an organization which provides standards-based challenges to around 6,000 teams at 425 tournaments in all 50 states.  The competitions include various STEM topics, from studying events such as Biology, Astronomy, and Cybersecurity, to building and engineering events such as creating bridge prototypes and Wi-Fi Lab.

SCVTHS Science Olympiad adviser Pratima Patil stated, “Students were excited and self-motivated to participate in their chosen event. The results reflect the hard work the entire Team put into their preparation for the Regional Science Olympiad Competition.”
