Automotive-Diesel Program
Hello and Welcome!
The Automotive-Diesel Technology Program is an accredited and certified program by the ASE Education Foundation (formerly NATEF - National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation), and includes a light duty diesel component. The program provides students with the technical knowledge and skills for employment as technicians in the automotive industry. Automotive/Diesel Technology involves troubleshooting and repairing the complex mechanisms and systems found in today’s vehicles. Instruction includes a combination of classroom theory and practical experience.
This program follows the curriculum guidelines set by the ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) Education Foundation, and is taught by ASE Master Certified instructors. Areas of study include Brake systems, Steering and Suspension, both Automatic and Manual Transmissions and Drivelines, HVAC systems, Electrical and Electronic systems, Engine theory and repair, and Engine Performance, which includes emissions and computerized control systems.
Students who successfully complete the program will pursue careers with retail, wholesale, and independent automotive dealers and repair shops. Graduates can go on to earn college degrees in the transportation industry and work for an O.E.M. or parts manufacturer. Career paths may include automotive/diesel technician, service writer, parts specialist, equipment service technician, automotive engineer, diagnostic specialist, to name some.
