SUBJECTS:
1. Physical Science (Academy 9)
Credits: 3
Length: 1 Year
Grade: 9
Prerequisite: none
Course Summary: This course introduces general principles of physics and chemistry. It provides students, through a variety of learning experiences and laboratory activities. Course topics include (but are not limited to) chemistry principles like scientific methods and measurements, matter and atoms, chemical bonds and chemical reactions, solutions: acids and bases, and physics principles like: Newton's laws of motion, momentum, energy, work, power, heat, thermodynamics, waves, sound light, electricity, magnetism. Upon completion, students should be able to relate these concepts to real world experiences and apply in the real life situation. Also students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of principles of chemistry and physics needed to pursue further study in respective subjects.
